The modules 1 and 2, have been developed in Microsoft .NET environment, the database is SQLServer 2000.

Costs

The Eti.net cost is composed of:

•  A “once-a-time” initial set up fee for a specific food chain: this cost depends on the amount of information required to be stored and the complexity of the food chain. It includes the tailoring of the system and the graphical integration with existing web sites
•  An year’s rental to manage the food-chain information: it depends on the number of batches/lots/units managed yearly and the number of users access the system
   

How to buy

The Eti.net platform is provided across the Internet as ASP (Application service provisioning). This means users rent Eti.net service instead of buy it: software, database and servers reside at AltaVia site/server.

The stakeholders access Eti.net services via a Web Browser. The users can access data and applications from any computer anywhere without having to install anything on any computer; there is no need to set up and maintain servers. ASP enables a higher return on investment and lower total cost of ownership.

The ASP model is a robust and secure way to manage food chain’s data. Security systems include firewalls, user authentication and authorisation, virus protection, and daily off site secure backup of all traceability information.
